What To Do About That Tattoo?

Sometimes we change our minds on a decision we’ve already followed-through on, but that’s okay. One such case is the decision to get a tattoo—although many people are happy, others regret their choice or are not happy with the results. No matter the reason, many want to get tattoos removed. Dr. Fugo and his team at Dr. Fugo Plastic Surgery & Laser Skin Care Center are here to help, getting you back to clean, tattoo-free skin.

PicoSure Can Help Fade Any Tattoo

Here in New Windsor, tattoo removal is conducted using a laser procedure. Dr. Fugo offers a revolutionary treatment called PicoSure®. PicoSure is the current gold standard in tattoo removal. Tattoos vary dramatically between the type of ink (pigment), depth, size, and age. Each tattoo is different and requires a unique plan of action. Fortunately, with the help of the PicoSure laser, Dr. Fugo can remove all types of tattoos, all colors, on all skin types.

What Is PicoSure?

Traditional laser tattoo removal used to be painful and ineffective in removing all ink colors, but PicoSure is better than the traditional methods because it uses ultra-short pulses to target and get rid of specific ink particles. Once the laser breaks these particles down, your body absorbs and eliminates them. While other lasers can only remove darker pigments like blue and black but have trouble with other lighter, brighter colors, PicoSure can completely clear the entire tattoo, regardless of the ink colors used.

Whereas other laser tattoo removal techniques often require more than 10-15 treatments, PicoSure can fade a tattoo far fewer treatments. In fact, most of Dr. Fugo’s patients see dramatic ink clearing in an average of just 3-5 sessions!

PicoSure has other skin care benefits, like treating brown spots, sun damage, pigmented areas, and acne scars. It’s also a good non-surgical option for restoring a youthful and healthy appearance in the body, face, hands, and chest. The laser targets the pigmented cells just as it does with tattoo removal.

What To Expect During Your Tattoo Removal with PicoSure

During your PicoSure treatment, Dr. Fugo will start by cleaning the area and then, for your comfort, use a strong topical anesthetic to numb the area. After performing your short PicoSure treatment, Dr. Fugo will ice and bandage the spot of the tattoo. You may feel a bit of discomfort for the next few days, which is normal. With each additional treatment, you will generally have less aftercare because there’s less ink reacting to the laser.
